The cities with the slowest job growth are scattered among 10 different states, all of which impose some level of income tax (New Mexico, Louisiana, Illinois, New Jersey, New York, Iowa, Michigan, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, and Mississippi). The article adds that, “A pro-business government is expected to help spur further job growth in the Lone Star State.” States should try to replicate Texas and Florida’s pro-growth tax climate by eliminating taxes on productivity and investment.
